A 73-year-old retired bank president had a universal life policy with a face value of $1.5 million. His children were grown and his portfolio held other investments, including additional life insurance policies. Therefore he no longer had a need for this policy. The insurance carrier of his policy offered a $225,000 cash surrender. He was pleased to have settled his policy with Bentley Life Settlements for $360,000 instead.
